The 'Hoatzin'

This week my reading group and I have been studying one of the birds of the Amazon named the 'Hoatzin', (Pronounced 'Hot zin'.) and one of my tasks was to do/create something on what I read about this bird. I chose to create a DLO based on what I read, and I found it hard to match a good color background with the pictures I included. Movie Character Day!

Yesterday (7 September 2017),

Our school had movie character day. Me and my friend Grace went as 'Beauty and the beast'. I was beauty, and she was the beast :'D. Has your school done Movie Character day before? If so, what did you go as?

Tech Master!

On the 5th of September some people from our class went to Hornby Primary School to do a toolkit. We had to show people what we could do on devices, and my group showed people how to do 'Google Drawings'. We did well, and I had fun. My favourite toolkit there was on ' how to do a screencastify' by Lauren, Mika,  Cayde and Shukoor. We got to explore new things on screencastify like 'how to turn the webcam on'. I found out how to draw on the screen while I'm recording. Here are some pictures from the day.:D

Book Award Day!

Today (August 7th) we went to New Zealand Book Award Day. We saw Authors from New Zealand and they explained their books and what they do. 

Here are my 2 favourite authors:

Leonie Agnew; She wrote books called 'The impossible', 'Super Finn' and 'Conrad Coopers Last Stand'. She is a children's Author. Her first book was entitled 'Super Finn'.

Jenny Cooper; She is an award winning illustrator, illustrating over 70 books. My favourite book of hers is 'Do your ears hang low'. She illustrates all kinds of books, including children's books.

Novel Study: Prezi

From the start of the term, we have been doing novel study. I had to create something that presents my novel study. I chose to make a prezi to present what I've done. It is below, Please comment!

Van Gogh's Starry Night Painting.

Over the past six weeks, we have been learning about van Gogh's painting called ‘A Starry Night’. We cut up his painting into 6 pieces and we chose a piece each. It was only the Year sixes. I painted a bit with stars and a moon at night. We used van Gogh’s techniques like using small swirly strokes to make the sky look windy and swirly. I chose a medium sized brush to make my painting look like his. The painting was a picture of a nighttime sky with a little village and a big black curvy mountain. I used a sponge brush to use the night sky then the swirly bits on top. I had lots of fun doing MY unique painting. :-) We used SOLO to describe our thinking. My thinking is Multistructural because I can describe several things about van Gogh’s painting skills. My next step is to describe several things about van Gogh paintings and explain why I used this skill in this way.

Maths with friends.

A few weeks ago,
I did a times table puzzle with
Bree and Evie. It was based on the three times tables,
we completed it in 10 minutes, and enjoyed doing it together.

The Time At Manual

On thursday we went to manual and did cooking and made stuff.
We got our own 3D name tags printed from the 3D printer there.
At Cooking we made fried rice and it tasted beautiful.
